Foodstirs is a monthly baking subscription box that ships baking mix kits straight to your door! The
kits contain only organic and non-GMO ingredients, and best of all, the
company was founded by Sarah Michelle Geller :) Each kit costs $19.99/
month with free shipping. You may still be able to use the code MSA30
(from mysubscriptionaddiction.com) to get a 3-month subscription for
$29.00 which is basically half off (normally 3 months would cost
~60.00).
This months recipe is for Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes! Each kit comes with a recipe card and nutrition info. Read more after the jump!
The
kit includes organic shortcake mix which will need to be mixed with
butter and milk (not included) and organic vanilla frosting mix which
will need to be mixed with butter and greek yogurt (also not included).
I thought that these "True Lemon" drink mix packets were just
samples (I mix them in my water bottle all the time, they're great!),
thank god I read the instructions! They are actually meant to be
combined with the shortcake mix and cold milk.
The next step is to scoop the shortcake batter into these cupcake liners. The recipe makes 8 cupcakes.
The recipe calls for 8 of these strawberries to be set aside for
garnish. Next, crush the remaining strawberries into the frosting and
blend one minute to combine.
Each of these straws should be cut in half and placed on the frosted cupcake along with a freeze dried strawberry.
Review: I am going to wait to bake these for a party that I
have later this month. I got 3 boxes for a discount coming to
~10.00/kit. Normally the price is $20.00/kit. $20.00, or even $10.00
for a kit that will make 8 cupcakes is a little bit on the steep end.
Additionally- the butter, milk, and Greek yogurt will be an added cost.
I love the idea of baking kits shipping straight to the door, but this
kit does not seem as exciting as past kits that I have seen.
